Some Neipu friends and I took a train one hour north to Tainan to spend a beautiful day on Friday. We took the Number 2 bus from the train station to the Anping area and just spent the day there at Fort Zeelandia, Old Street and the tree house all within walking distrance. Why didn't I see this until now? This video is really impressive! Dancers and singers outside the Taipei Main Station all choreographed for all 6 and a half minutes to be shot in one take. They must have blocked off part of this area and shot it at sunrise to have so few bystanders around. I heard that it's in Taiwanese and not in Mandarin. I only understood "Taiwan is my home".

Dream Mall's ferris wheel is like the city landmark anymore. It can be spotted from miles around even in the daytime. This place is so crowded on weekends. At first, when I saw that my husband came home with two gigantic green fruit, I thought he had brought home durian, the infamous stinky fruit... but he said it was jack fruit...Our first encounter with a jack fruit. The Vietnamese at my school have an interesting challenge. They feel like they are studying abroad and were sadly disappointed to find that many of the Taiwanese students cannot speak English. They said they regret not studying Chinese more prior to their arrival. I have done what I can to introduce them to English language majors, and we have English club meetings for conversation practice.

The other evening we just wanted to get out of town, so we grabbed two students and two friends and drove 45 minutes south of Neipu to the FangLiao area. It's half-way to Kenting and it has several rest areas and tea shops and restaurants along a rocky shore. We stopped at one of those rest stops just to relax and skip rocks into the ocean. Michael found a nice place to use his watercolor pens.

One great thing about Neipu is that it is close to many scenic places. We took a 45 minute drive south on Highway 1 to the Taiwan Strait. Another hour and we would have been at Kenting's sand beaches. Stuart did not like being near the waves, but the shade was OK. Domino's Pizza is in Neipu!!!!!!!

We have often wondered why there wasn't a pizza place in Neipu since there are two universities here. I know that classes at my school have ordered delivery from the closest Domino's which is in ChaoJho 15 minutes away. Today we noticed that Domino's has finally arrived in Neipu. For me, I have tried systems of checking off when I have read certain sections, but I am finding a low-key low-stress method the best for me this year.
